change today

After one helluva week last week, I thought I would start this week off with some positivity and encouragement I saw the following quote and thought it was very fitting for me, especially given my propensity to get emotionally caught up in things I cannot control.

The keys to patience are acceptance and faith. Accept things as they are, and look realistically at the world around you. Have faith in yourself and in the direction you have chosen. – Ralph Marston

Patience is something I struggle with daily (hourly, really). As I’ve expressed numerous times on my blog, I have a hard time accepting things as they are. Especially hate and intolerance – ain’t nobody got time for that! And looking realistically at the world around me is what tends to set me off in the first place. But I hope to approach this week with more acceptance. While I don’t necessarily accept the tomfoolery I see, I accept that I can only change me and how I react to it.

So this week, I am motivated to exhibit more patience and work on what is in my immediate control. I can’t have another week like last week so I’m going to keep my eyes on the prize. Because trust, a sista has plenty to focus on and accomplish!!

What are you motivated to do this week? Do you have a plan on how to get over the clusterfluck of emotion that was last week?

Wishing you a great week!

My level of patience often freaks Miss Moneypenny out from time to time. When she asks why I’m so calm about one thing or another I just tell her “Baby, I can’t do anything about that sh*t right now so I’m chilling.” Some of this stems from me watching my parents handle things growing up (Who better to teach patience than parents who remembered the depression, Jim Crow, and the war?) and compartmentalizing things to juggle depression and everyday life. <—– This last thing is a long overdue blog that I need pen.

This week I'm motivated to continue to work on me. Both in the physical and mental aspects of life. I'm finally getting back into fighting weight and getting my mind right at the same time. This time I've learned not to do too hard into either arena because it's a recipe for burn out.

Do you have a plan on how to get over the clusterfluck of emotion that was last week? <—- I'm just going to keep moving forward. After your post last week I found out that my friend's daughter was in a bad accident and had to get her jaw wired shut. Then I found out another guy from back home (Allendale, stand up!) wrecked his semi and is paralyzed from the chest down. The sucker punch came late Friday night when I found out my friend Hasan's mom passed. It was a rough week for the Avengers but we'll rebound. #askmehowIknow So I'm not presenting myself with any other option than to #keepmoving

    #keepmoving Marge!

i’m definitely looking forward to a post on your juggle with depression and keeping a level head in spite of it. i think its awesome and a story worth sharing.

i sincerely hope that this week is a lot better than last week. with all the crap that happened last week we really need it.

this week i’m motivated to actually get more writing done. i also want to get at least 7-10 miles running done (if the weather cooperates, supposed to rain all week). i also want to finalize some plans i have for someone’s birthday. 🙂
